Multicultural Wedding at The Titanic Hotel Liverpool

As I was born and raised on Merseyside, it’s always nice to return to Liverpool for a wedding which I hadn’t managed to do since last year. I’d been looking forward to returning to The Titanic Hotel in Liverpool for a wedding for a long time. Having been lovingly restored, the hotel is now a historic World Heritage Site which provides a fitting location to mark the start of your lives together. From your marriage ceremony to evening celebrations and multicultural weddings, The Titanic Hotel is the perfect wedding venue for anyone.

Helen is originally from Liverpool so the decision to get married at one of Liverpool’s most iconic venues was quite an easy one but the story of how this lovely couple met definitely has me thinking it had to be fate that brought these 2 soul mates together. Erwin is Canadian, living in Toronto, Ontario but travelled over to England for a holiday in London where Helen was studying at university at the time. They had their chance meeting in a crowded night club where they got chatting and immediately felt a connection to each other. Unfortunately Erwin was due to return to Canada a few days later so it was another 3 years before they had the chance to meet up again when Erwin came back to England for another holiday. This time the connection became stronger and they made the decision to see if they could make the long distance relationship work which it obviously did as here we are, 4 years later, on their wedding day.

Helen and Erwin both prepared for their wedding day in separate rooms of the Titanic Hotel with Helen and her bridesmaids having a really chilled out afternoon while having their hair and make-up done by Nicola Joyce Hair & Makeup and sipping on Prosecco. The huge rooms at the Titanic allow me plenty of space to hide in plain sight and get creative with the gorgeous light those rooms have. Documenting the early part of the day while the girls get ready is definitely my favourite part of a wedding day and gives me first chance to get to know the girls and what kind of wedding we have ahead of us. I could tell very early on that this wedding was going to be a little different, non-traditional and end in a fun party with a full dancefloor.

A couple of floors higher up in the hotel I had Adam Joe Roberts assisting me by spending time with Erwin and his groomsmen as they prepared themselves for the wedding, getting their suits on before making their way downstairs to greet all the arriving guests in the West Bay which is an exceptional new wedding venue reflective of Liverpool’s rich maritime heritage and has a restored warehouse design. Its stone floors, steel pillars and vaulted brick ceilings are perfectly in keeping with the distinctive style of the hotel and venue.

All eyes were on Helen as she was led down the stone floored aisle of West Bay accompanied by her father in to the room that was now dimly lit by the overhead festoon lighting. The couple had brought their local pastor over from Canada to perform the ceremony as she has been very close to Erwin’s family for many years. The ceremony consisted of several readings before the exchange of rings and the traditional first kiss as they were pronounced husband and wife. Immediately following the ceremony the guests were given the chance to congratulate the newlywed couple while drinks and canapés were served before I took the couple away for 15 minutes to capture some portraits of just the 2 of them around some of the stunning backdrops that the hotel has to offer. After a few more drinks, the guests settled down for the wedding breakfast followed by the speeches during which the very musical groom burst in to song to celebrate his love not just for his new wife but also his mother and daughter.

The Iconic Titanic Hotel Wedding Venue

As expected, the evening came to a close with a packed dancefloor as soon as Helen & Erwin finished their first dance with many of the guests dancing until the early hours of the morning. This really was a truly special wedding with a particularly lovely couple who I have no doubt will have a long and happy marriage together.
